As president and founder of Costarella Seafoods, Inc., Bob Costarella is committed to providing the highest quality seafood with attention to customer service possible in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located on Pier 45 on Fisherman’s Wharf, Costarella’s is at the heart of the seafood industry’s
distribution center.
Before opening Costarella Seafoods in 1991, Bob Costarella spent years developing contacts with many of the city’s finest restaurants and chefs as a sales representative. Prior to this, Bob worked as a commercial fisherman as well as a charter boat captain. Bob’s experience and personal relationships with the fishermen has led to sourcing the freshest seafood available.
Whenever possible Costarella Seafoods purchases Halibut, Rock Cod and Black Cod from fisheries that have been certified sustainable by the Marine Stuartship Council. The MSC has evaluated the fishing methods used, by catch amounts and method in order to certify fisheries sustainable. Bob’s commitment to healthy fishing practices is evident by his regular attendance and contribution to meetings held by an organization simply known as, Environmental Defense which help shape regulations for the local fisheries to maintain sustainability.
